Growing up, we always looked for rocks on the beach that had a white stripe through them. Our mother told us they were good luck, so I have a small collection of them. Even if they don’t have that magic, believing that they do has a way of brightening my day and that in itself is good luck. It’s nice how small pleasures make a difference
2020-2021
morning walks have become essential in this COVID slog. being greeted by the scene above on a calm morning, as well as the ripples or gales and in-between, reminds me how grateful I am to be able start my day this way. with a cattle farm next door, we have happened upon a young bull that escaped his fence and more recently, the first calf of the calving season. these are small pleasures that make me feel lucky.

I started taking these images with the intent of hanging them together for my mother to give her the feeling of having a window of Spring and Summer even in the dead of Winter. I never printed them, but it was an incomplete mission that I enjoyed nonetheless.
